Today was the day! I could barely sleep last night - I was so full of emotion. There were moments I thought I was going to throw up. It almost felt as if it was the night before my very first day of teaching. Once I got there and began seeing children...all the nerves were gone...replaced with excitement. I couldn't wait to see "my" kids. We had a great couple of hours together and I was so amazed - and pleased with everything! As they came in, I told them that their directions were on the board and I wanted to see if they could read and follow them...and they did! What a change from kindergarten level! When I told them it was time to prepare for home, they said they didn't want the day to be over yet. So, we are off to a good start! I will try to take some pics tomorrow of the finished room.
I bought 3 new fish for the classroom...yep, my beloved Bruce went on to the giant fishbowl in the sky last week. I am hoping that they will all still be living tomorrow!

I'm so glad the first day went so well.
I got chills reading that. There is nothing like that first day of school. It sounds so exciting...I am so happy for you that it went well. I am sure that I wouldn't want to leave your classroom either!
