Inquiring minds want to know...

Where is Emma?  She is currently living in Xi'an Children's Welfare Institute in Xi'an, Shaanxi.

They call the orphanage "The Pink Castle"

Sorry these pics are the wrong resolution...but the orphanage seems very pleasant.  It is sponsored by Half the Sky .  Their mission is to "enrich the lives and enhance the prospects of orphaned children in China."  In all the pictures, the rooms were so clean and the nannies were actively playing with the babies and children.

Her given name is An Gui Lan.   An is her surname or last name.  Gui Lan means "precious flower."  Her caretakers call her "Lan-Lan."  That's so cute, it will probably stick as her nickname!

Her birthdate is estimated to be May 11, 2008.  She was found at approximately 2 months old in the pediatric ward of the hospital.  I don't KNOW the circumstances, but in my mind, it seems that her family must have cared for her a great deal...that they recognized she had a need that they couldn't handle.  She has a minor heart defect.  But the doctors here and in China do not anticipate it being one that will require surgery.

She is quiet, but talkative.  hmmm.  She is energetic, has a ready smile, and gets along well with others.

She is perfect...and I can't wait to get my hands on her!  :)

I can't wait to get my hands on her either! :) Guess I'm going to have to wait in line :) :) John is wide eyed and so incredibly curious asking a MILLION questions, but then he answers his own questions with what he deems as logical.. make sense? lol.

Angie--Our daugher Izabella is from the same orphanage! I found you through Kelly R's blog. Have you joined the Xi'An City Association yahoo group? Perhaps there are some photos of your little girl is other families photos there--and they are a wonderful resource to answer questions about the orphanage and Xi'An City.

So...happy for you! She's precious--looking forward to watching your last steps to her and to motherhood. I am a first time mom as well.

Our blog is http://www.cotaarndtadd1.blogspot.com

If you click on the travel blog at the top of our blog--you can see some of our travels to Xi'An City.

God Bless You and Safe Travels.
