Pumpkin Palooza

I love teaching kindergarten! On Thursday we had Pumpkin Palooza. We tasted 5 different "pumpkin" foods - pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin cookies, and pumpkin ice cream. After we had tasted them each of the kids decided which was their favorite and we created a class graph. The cookies came in first, but my personal favorite, the ice cream, came in a close second! Then we made a jack o lantern from a pumpkin grown by a child in our class! This summer he wanted to plant something...not thinking it would grow, his mom gave him a pumpkin seed. One seed. They had 16 blossoms and 8 pumpkins from that one seed. Just goes to show that you can't tell what can grow from just one small seed. And I have 15 "seeds" growing in my classroom this year! Enjoy the pics - we had a ball!

Notice the stinker who has to be the center of attention! But still a cute picture!

The one holding the pumpkin is the farmer!
