So what's new...

My faithful reader, commenter, and friend, Susan, made it clear to me today that my "blog needed some lovin." It's true...I know...but life has just been kind of non eventful...but still so busy...there has been little time to love on this poor blog. So here's an attempt...

Max has proven to be the entertainment in my life as always. Truly, I never thought I would LIKE a dog, much less LOVE a dog. And there are days I wonder if I will be able to love Emma this much. Now I know that's stretching it a bit, but it's like most people feel going from one baby to two babies. His best effort at entertainment came this week when we went to my Mom and Dad's for supper. After supper, we went downstairs. Mom and Dad have had a pesky mouse in their basement so they have set out those horrible glue traps. You know where this is going don't you? Well, Mom forgot to get them up and Max was stuck in one the second he made it down stairs. That daggone boy is a nosy-rosy! he had his left front paw stuck...I was laughing so hard, I wasn't sure if I could calm down enough to get it off. He was so pitiful. I was just sure he would end up with his paw stuck to his head or something. Here's a "Good -to-know" tip for you! If ever your fur baby...or anything else gets stuck in a glue trap, dishwashing detergent will unstick them rather easily! Max kind of pouted for awhile that evening, but perked up of course when the treats came out!

The condo is coming along...I am doing the hardwood/carpet debate right now. I don't know that my knees can take crawling after Emma on hardwood...but I don't guess she will be crawling much if any. Max's claws are an issue...but then again, I like the rustic-ish look...

Second grade is the BOMB! I love it! I love my class! And most days...I even like teaching! Today was picture day. I always love picture day! The boys are always dressed in an outfit and shoes they HATE! And they roll their eyes when I tell them how handsome they look. The girls come in in dresses and "clicky" shoes with their hair all done and just priss all over the place. I had girls brushing their hair all day! I told them it was going to fall out! I think I really have a few of them worried! I finally had to take brushes away! ( I thought about using it as a microphone and rockin out to an old 80's tune, but they already think I am old!) And those of you who know me know I am definitely NOT the "rockin out" kind, but it sure was a fun idea!

I love how excited they are about Emma. They bring it up all the time...during calendar they want to know how many days until we "move the ladybug" to show that I am another month closer. In Social Studies, they want to know where China is and what it's like. I hope I get to travel this year so we can share that together! They want to know what she looks like and why she doesn't have a family. Hard to explain sometimes...hard to find the words...sometimes hard to hold myself together as I tell them the whys of it all. Sometimes I think about taking in a book to read like, I Love You Like Crazy Cakes, but I don't think I could make it through it.

I miss her a lot more than normal this week...Emma... We have a China adoption support group that meets once a month. This month is our Harvest Moon celebration. Three years ago, my first meeting, was the Harvest Moon celebration. My favorite part came at the end of the night. We all got a candle, stood in a circle around the children (who were COVERED in glow sticks) and sang to the moon...

I see the moon and the moon sees me.
God bless the moon and God bless me.
Please let the light that shines on me
Shine on the one I love.

Tears filled my eyes as I thought about my little one...I kept that candle so I could light it when I got lonesome for her. It's a wonder there's any of it left!

This year will be my fourth celebration...with empty arms. I thought for sure I would have her by now! I think it would be so much easier if there was an end...if I just knew when. There's a site called Rumor Queen which posts polls and rumors about China adoptions. The latest prediction for those with my log in date is 2012. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! I know God has her...and I know He will bring her to me in HIS time and that it will be perfect, but this not knowing is tearing out my heart. I just want her so badly! I know someday I will look back on this wait and see God's perfect plan...

I think I am going to take a cheese tray to the Harvest Moon celebration...a little cheese with my "WHINE!"

How's that for an update? I will post pictures from our celebration this weekend!

Alright, from a momma of three who has had two different houses, here is my take. My first house, wall to wall carpet=disaster with a baby (or two!). As hard as you try it just never stays clean! My new house, wall to wall hardwood=LOVE,LOVE,LOVE. Put some cute little rugs around, it won't kill your knees, you get used to it. I lay quilts for us to play o to add a little more cushion. They are easy to clean when things spill or little friends go crazy with crayon, or ever permanent marker!!! Just my little bit of wisdom fom learning through experience.

Angie,
You have so much good stuff coming your way but I know it is hard to hang on so long. You have been a trooper and God knows your heart. A new house is so exciting and fresh. From an allergy point of view Please do the hardwood! Soon you will be fixing up Emma's room and that will help you pass time. Then the referral will come and this whole mess will be a blurry memory. You were so excited for us when we got Claire and Anna and we can't wait to help you celebrate your angel! I love your posts about Max. Before we got married my big fat cat Thomas Frank slept beside me on his pillow every night. Now he sleeps in the basement far away from two girls with very high pitched voices but he knows mama still loves him too!
