They lied!

Last Friday I had surgery to remove my gall bladder. I wasn't really having issues with it, but there was a polyp (non cancerous) in it, so I went under the knife. I talked to so many people who said how easy it would be. I beg to differ! Just 10 hours after surgery, I was in the ER in horrible pain. First, I told them at the surgery center that the med they prescribed me does not work for me. Apparently, I am an idiot when it comes to my own pain relief. Not only was the pain med not working, but I was unable to use the bathroom. I know that may be TMI...but it's part of the story. In the ER, they gave me some IV drugs - hallelujah! I also had to be cathed - joy. Never had that done before. It did offer some relief from pain...my belly was so distended.

I seriously remember very little from the weekend....I went back to work on Wednesday, but only made it through half of the day. I am getting my energy level back, but still have significan't pain in one spot. I go back to the doctor on Monday...can't wait to ask him about that one! When I can take a deep breath without pain, I will consider it a good day!

Oh Angie, I am so sorry friend! I had my gall bladder removed too about a month after I gave birth to Evan. My gall bladder was really acting up when I was pregnant. It does with a lot of women and I am thinking you have been "pregnant" so long too that your gall bladder was starting to act up!!! ;)

In all seriousness, it was not all roses for me right afterwards too. It took awhile and you'll really have to watch fat intake or look out for some pain. The flip side was that it was a heck of a diet! I lost 10 lbs pretty fast. I felt like a lab rat...eat fat get excrutiating pain! But I am thinking now that was the last diet that worked for me ;) If only I had a spare gall bladder! Ha!

I hope you feel better soon friend. take extra good care of yourself! Love from your friend you've never met, Cindy

I'm so sorry Ang! I'm happy to know that you are on the "other" side of things now though~! I had mine out when I was 11 (yeah, had symptoms beginning at age 5) .. the old fashioned way. No bikini's here! lol, not that there would be one any way!! It took me every bit of a year to get over it, but then Dave bounced back to work in 4 days after his lap. gallbladder procedure. Hopefully the worst is over for you!
a hug!
